I often take precious gemstones from vintage jewellery and create a new design. Your old metal is credited, the existing stones saved and a new engagement ring is created in an original exquisite handcrafted design.
All custom engagement ring bands have free ring resizing included, which I can do quickly. I also offer my clients free yearly jewellery servicing for life to keep your precious piece in perfect condition.
Wedding rings and bands—with or without diamonds or gemstones—need some annual attention to keep them looking in mint condition. I include free once a year servicing on any custom wedding rings I make. Wider bands can show some surface wear and tear over a year, especially with softer metals. I will polish the surface back to its original condition for you, removing any scratches. As well, I include a check and tighten of all set gemstones, full clean and shape, and rhodium plating for plated white gold pieces.
It’s likely your wedding ring design won’t be a surprise and you will have time to discuss and plan the design properly. If you have an engagement ring you wish the wedding band to nest with then we will craft an engagement and wedding ring set that works when worn together, as well as when worn on its own. We can take into consideration the shape and size of the centre stone on your engagement ring, and craft a complementary design.
If you are going with no engagement ring and just a wedding band, as is common with men’s wedding rings, than we have more creative license to craft a unique custom make wedding ring. It is also wise to consider how to wear your wedding and engagement rings, as it is more likely you will wear your wedding ring every day. A ring design that does not impede your fingers while working will be much more enjoyable to wear.
Without a large centre diamond or gemstone your wedding ring should already cost much less than your engagement ring. But setting the right budget is still important as you still have your wedding to pay for after all! We can define a total budget when you initially design your engagement ring, or consider the wedding band on its own. Men usually have larger, heavier rings which require more precious metal. Women’s wedding rings can include diamond pavé around the band which can add up to several carats of diamonds in total. Think about your investment levels and we can have an open discussion about what will work within your budget and design a wedding ring to that.
